Project Summary

RCDP International works with a local NGO that runs a noble and important after school program that is working toward teaching and empowering young girls from impoverished communities in Guatemala.

Education is their main priority with a goal of eliminating the continuous cycle of poverty. Through the use of education, they believe that they can instill in these young girls new mindsets, ideas, and creativity. It is also used to break the ignorance and barriers about racism, sexism, and gender inequality.

When you volunteer abroad with the girl empowerment project in Antigua, Guatemala, you will be helping to teach and mentor these poor young girls during the often troublesome and unstable times of being a child living in poverty.

Through education they will have a better chance of become success, healthy, and happy adults. Education is power and you can help provide that power.

Skill/Qualification

General volunteers are asked to have at least a basic level of Spanish. Volunteers that wish to take on a more active role and present workshops and activities must have a medium-advanced level of Spanish.

We ask that you are compassionate, kind, loving, and warm individuals that have an interest in helping young children. You should also be a good role model. Volunteers in this program must be independent, creative, self-starters.

The program highly values volunteers that can come and present workshops to the girls or teach them new skills!

Role of Volunteer

You will participate in small group workshops and other educational programs that aim to encourage, inspire, and teach these young girls valuable lessons that will greatly serve them in their futures. Specific details of your responsibilities and daily routine will be provided.
