Poverty is prevalent in Zimbabwe, resulting in many children lacking access to sports learning opportunities. Limited resources and inadequate infrastructure make it challenging for youngsters to explore and develop their sporting talents. Additionally, a shortage of professional coaching further hinders the growth of sports programs for these children.

To address these challenges, RCDP International Volunteers has developed the Zimbabwe Sports Coaching Volunteering Program. This program aims to bridge the gap by providing crucial sports coaching and learning opportunities to underprivileged youth. By empowering these youngsters and offering them a chance to explore their potential in sports, the program seeks to overcome the barriers posed by poverty and limited resources. Through volunteer placements with established soccer teams in Victoria Falls' second division, volunteers share their expertise and serve as mentors to help these children unlock their athletic talents.

Project Skills Required

Volunteers aged 18 or older with backgrounds in physical education, sports, teaching, or coaching are needed. You should also have a passion for sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Patience, flexibility, and a willingness to assist in various sports activities are essential qualities for those interested.

Your Activities As A Volunteer

Join us in Zimbabwe to empower underprivileged children through sports coaching and community involvement. This meaningful project provides volunteers with a transformative experience as they inspire young individuals through the universal language of sports, particularly soccer, which is immensely popular in Africa. While many children enjoy sports for fun, those at the grassroots level often lack opportunities to develop their talents further due to a shortage of professional coaching and training.

Recognizing the global significance of soccer and its economic impact, RCDP emphasizes the essential role volunteers play in helping young talents realize their potential. Volunteers actively participate in coaching, youth training, scheduling, and strategic planning. Most volunteers commit to a minimum of eight months to effectively train and lead teams, achieve successes, and create regional opportunities for local talents.

This vital project offers flexibility, allowing volunteers to choose between full-time sports coaching or part-time coaching combined with activities such as working with orphans, teaching in schools, providing dance instruction, or assisting in public healthcare.
