What volunteer opportunities are available in Argentina

Everyone has different interests, skills, and dreams, and with our great range of meaningful volunteer abroad in Argentina programs to choose from it is easy to find your perfect match. All of our projects serve people who genuinely need and appreciate your time and effort, and are bound to create memories to last you a lifetime.

Medical Project

volunteers in Argentina MedicalIf you have an interest or background in medicine, nursing or any other healthcare field joining a medical volunteer Argentina program is a good way to see the world, while also making the lives of those in need of some help a little easier and more hopeful.

Health care is not something people around the globe can take for granted, and in Argentina those who have no money to pay for treatments and consultations simply miss out on getting help. RCDP supports the work of local clinics and not for profit groups by sending volunteers to help at their clinics, and with other medical support systems.

Skills/Qualifications Needed: Medical volunteer Argentina healthcare projects are not restricted to fully qualified professionals. Although experience is appreciated it is not necessary, and there are no age restrictions either; everyone from students to the retired is welcome to join. However, having some understanding of Spanish is useful to have a truly worthwhile volunteer experience, so if you have none at all it is probably best to learn some of the language before taking up this opportunity.

Volunteer Responsibilities: On this program you can expect to work for around 4-5 hours every weekday. Medical volunteers in Argentina may be asked to help with many different activities while working at their project site, but your exact duties will mainly depend on the experience and qualifications you have, as well as the needs of the patients who need treatment at that time. A general list of possible tasks may include:

  • Helping staff administer vaccinations
  • Running workshops on topics like the importance of nutrition, personal hygiene and health
  • Doing any relevant admin tasks needed

Sharing information on how to eat well and avoid certain diseases is crucial if the health of disadvantaged people is to improve, and along with providing basic treatments to the sick, this will be a key part of your volunteer work in Argentina. This experience is very worthwhile, both professionally, and personally.

Dental Project

volunteers in Argentina Dental Dental volunteer in Argentina programs are a great way to combine seeing more of the world with donating some of your time and skills to help those living with various problems and disadvantages.

RCDP offer both current and graduate students looking to enroll in dental school an amazing opportunity to do just this. These informal volunteer roles are designed to provide you with invaluable experience during time spent with a team of local dentistry professionals.

You can experience dentistry work in several different specialisms, as well as helping to educate youngsters on topics like how to clean your teeth properly.

Skills/Qualifications Needed : As this is a specialized program all volunteers should be either current or graduate students, and have a definite interest in working in the dentistry field in the future. Decent Spanish language skills are a huge advantage, and everyone interested in signing up for a dental volunteer in Argentina project via RCDP is advised to attend our Spanish language course if they have little or no prior knowledge.

This is a program which requires a commitment of at least eight weeks, for at least 20 hours a week; while a polite respectful and mature attitude is a must.

Volunteer Responsibilities: RCDP's dentistry program volunteers may take on tasks such as:

  • Lab work
  • Learning about and prepping for dental procedures
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting objects and spaces as required
  • Supportive patient care
  • Learning about radiographs and how to read them
  • Studying dentistry related vocabulary

The Fee and Dates

RCDP Argentina Program starts every 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.

Every year hundreds of volunteers arrive in Argentina to volunteer from UK and USA based organizations and end up paying up to $2500 to volunteer for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, only a small portion of that money actually goes to host projects. The local host projects (orphanages, school, and local NGOs) in Argentina are resource poor and underfunded and need external support to run their programs. In our program, you will pay your fee directly to the projects upon arrival in Argentina. When you join our Argentina volunteer program, we will make sure that all of your money goes to the projects. Part of your fees also helps us cover our expenses. The program fee is divided as registration fee ($269) and weekly fee (for room, coordination, and project donation).

In Argentina, weekly fee is divided between room (50%) and project donation/support of local project staffs (50%). This allocation may be different depending on locations, project types etc. However, our coordinator will explain these issues before you pay the fee. Please find below the breakdown of cost in a weekly basis.

Room/Food/Supervision Arrangements

If you choose a volunteer Argentina project based in Cordoba you will be housed in a nice hostel; well equipped with modern facilities, and in a safe area. As hostels do not provide food you should allow around $50 a week to cover your meals and snacks. There are plenty of affordable places to eat out in Argentina.

Argentina volunteers enjoy the 24/7 support of a local country coordinator. This is an invaluable contact to have, and they will usually visit you every two weeks or so, though of course they will always be available to you by phone or email.

Volunteers will also have access to the country coordinator who will provide continual support and direction throughout their volunteer abroad experience. The country coordinator typically visits volunteers about every 2 weeks or so, but is also available via phone and email. Make the most of your contacts, as the people you meet help make each experience super special.
